Art has always been a journey of exploration for me. I was born in West Africa in the 1960s and spent my childhood surrounded by vibrant landscapes and cultures that left a lasting impression on my imagination. From an early age I was drawing and painting, trying to capture the world around me with pencil and brush.
I trained in design at the University for the Creative Arts in Surrey, England. My work is inspired by the patterns of nature, the bold geometry of Op Art and Art Deco, and the intricate designs of William Morris. Glass, and especially fused glass and mosaic, brought those influences together for me: light and color moving through pattern.
Over more than thirty years I have exhibited in the United States and the United Kingdom, and my work is in private collections in several countries. Today I design and build mosaics in my Florida studio, from kitchen backsplashes and shower panels to church commissions and garden pieces. My mosaics are built to last, and pieces installed outdoors have come through hurricanes and floods.
Every piece starts as a drawing or a watercolor. I cut, fuse and set the glass myself, and I love working with designers, builders and homeowners to create something that belongs in its space.
